Leesburg, VA - Loudoun County
Town of Leesburg

Leesburg is located at the crossroads of Route 7 and Route 15 and is the county seat of Loudoun. The heart of Leesburg is centered around its charming historic district featuring architecture from the late 1700s and the county's stately courthouse. Leesburg, a confederate stronghold during the Civil War, printed their own money called "Dog Money". This money had a picture of a dog on it and was used to help raise money for the Confederate cause.

Leesburg like many towns in Loudoun, have a variety of antique dealers, art galleries, and specialty shops located within its historic district and beyond, and it also offers bargain shoppers the Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets. Visitors can find many wonderful restaurants ranging from traditional favorites such as Johnson's Steak House to upscale dining at restaurants featuring fresh local produce such as Tuscarora Mill with American fare and the Eiffel Tower Restaurant with exquisite French cuisine.

Popular Leesburg events include the festive First Friday Gallery Walk on the first Friday of each month when the many art galleries, antique shops, and specialty shops in the historic district extend their evening hours. The Flower & Garden Festival in April and August Court Days in August draw thousands of visitors to the historic streets of the town. General George C. Marshall's home in Leesburg, Dodona Manor, is being historically restored by tours can be arranged by calling.

Leesburg has several historic attractions including the Loudoun Museum where you can learn about the history of the county, as well as Balls Bluff Battlefield Regional Park, Oatlands Plantation, and Morven Park. Today the scene of the Civil War battle of Balls Bluff features one of the smallest national cemeteries and hiking trails along the battlefield and the river. Oatlands is a 330-acre property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and offers plantation tours in addition to home and garden tours. Morven Park offers tours of the former home of governor Westmoreland Davis and also features the Winmill Carriage Collection and the Museum of Hounds and Hunting.
